Proposed Regulatory Amendments to Long-Term Care Home Legislation

The Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) has begun public consultation on proposed amendments to Ontario Regulation 246/22 under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021. This is the law that governs every licensed long-term care (LTC) home in the province.

If approved, the Ministry has proposed that the amendments come into force on April 11, 2023.

A summary of the proposed amendments is available on the Ontario Regulatory Registry (until March 5, 2023). At present, the amendments are captured as high-level recommendations. Feedback can be provided directly through the website by scrolling to the bottom and clicking: “Comment on this proposal via email.”
