The provincial government has proposed new legislation to be passed within a short time frame, disingenuously titled “More Beds, Better Care Act.” The Act would give new powers to force the elderly and persons with disabilities who are waiting in hospitals into long-term care homes against their choosing, in what legal experts and patient advocates warn is a fundamental violation of their rights.
Concerned Friends has spoken out vehemently against this Bill and provided the Premier, Health Ministers, and the Ontario Human Rights Commission with a written submission. We feel strongly that this Bill must be withdrawn immediately. Read our full submission HERE.
