8:00      Guest Speaker, Melissa Miller – Partner at Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP.

Melissa Miller is an advocate for the most vulnerable members of our population, the elderly. Being certified in Elder Law, she concentrates on nursing home negligence, long-term care cases and elder abuse. Melissa is an experienced trial advocate and  is lead counsel in mass tort litigation against three of the largest for-profit care providers.

Melissa is cofounder of Canadians 4 Long-Term Care supporting the need for national LTC standards and lead the November 2020 demonstration “Broken Hearts, Empty Shoes” where 2,400 pairs of shoes were placed on the lawn of Parliament Hill in Ottawa, where each one represents Four people that passed in LTC homes during COVID in Canada.
